Varnish and Sikkens Cetol

At Mylor the finishers use a number of different materials including new, harder wearing finishes such as Sikkens.

Varnishing is a very time consuming and labourious job but gives amazing finishes.  It is not always the best finish for wood that is being subjected to a lot of rubbing and contact with the elements.  Sikkens gives a slightly duller finish but is very hard wearing so the upkeep is a lot less.

If varnish work is in need of a revamp it is advisable to strip it right back to bare wood and effectivley start again with the layers.  If this is not done the finish can be patchy where the wood has faded and varnish has come way.
