Case studies
Varnish maintenance
This large motor boat came to us with a mile of varnish work. Having never had any further coats of varnish applied after build – approx 3 years – the underlying timber had significantly bleached out and the varnish work was starting to peel off. As with all timber, a patch repair to the varnish work would have caused the blotchy effect, hence a complete strip was required and carried out.
Large and prestigious paintwork
Being a centre of excellence for painting – amongst other activities – this German based International 12m came to us for a lengthy re-fit. It was imperative that the vessel was displayed to her very best for the forthcoming season, and so we had to overcome a number of hurdles such as black gloss on a carvel built yacht built to race and suffer stress while still looking good – impossible? I think not…
Full paint and varnish
This vessel was essentially a large Riva style 1920’s launch that had been renovated and completely brought back to life by the owner. In this instance, our work encompassed significant hull repairs with planking being replaced and made fair to match the truly beautiful lines of the vessel. Varnish was everywhere in the superstructure and having completed all of the re-fit, it was quickly apparent that this too required complete replacement.
