The location

Mylor Yacht Harbour is tucked away among the tree lined creeks and rivers of an area known as the Carrick Roads, near Falmouth on the south coast of Cornwall.  The marina is protected from the prevailing South Westerly winds and offers a sheltered haven for yachts persons with everything a boat owner could need in one place.

Boasting some of the finest sheltered waters in the UK, the Carrick Roads offers a great base for sailing. There are many yacht racing events, both local and national, that take place throughout the season in the area.

The entire area is protected as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, from the mouth which has St Anthony Lighthouse (aka Fraggle Rock) to one side and Pendennis Castle to the other, deep into the tree lined creeks to Truro. It is home to many wading birds, seals and otters, not to mention all the basking sharks and dolphins that come into the Roads to feed.

Smugglers Cottage

Tucked away in the trees and covered in ivy, the smugglers cottage overlooks the peaceful creeks

Just past the King Harry Ferry and, if you are lucky, near some very large tankers layed up in Truro River, is the Smugglers Cottage. Run by the local Tregothnan Estate it has a small pontoon and moorings that are free to use by patrons, alternatively you can catch a ferry from anywhere on the estuary and be dropped off right on the doorstep! All of their produce is locally produced and sourced including their tea that is grown onsite in the only tea plantation in the UK.
