MYH Customer Update: Lockdown Restrictions 09/03/21

The harbour front at Myor Yacht Harbour, on the Fal River in Cornwall

Good afternoon,

As we move into the first part on the easing of lockdown restrictions, I would like to update everyone on what this means for customers at Mylor Yacht Harbour.

As from March 8th 2021, people can meet one other person in public spaces for outdoor recreation in addition to exercise.  Included in recreation and exercise is boating, provided people stay local, minimise the time spent away from home and keep to other social distancing and household mixing rules.  As far as visiting your boat to carry out maintenance, this is not specifically defined as ‘recreation’ in the Government guidance but industry trade body British Marine have published the following on their website after consultation with DEFRA:

Until 29th March, you may leave home to secure your second home, caravan or boat in order to avoid it posing a risk of harm/injury to yourself or others. You should not stay longer than for the length of time required to undertake the necessary work. From 29th March, you may travel to your boat for general maintenance. However, you should minimise travel outside of your local areas and should not stay overnight away from home.

As always, we would encourage all customers to follow the guidance to ensure everyone is kept as safe as possible.  We will, however, keep an eye on any changes to the current guidance and will keep customers up to date as appropriate but in the absence of anything specific, all we can go on ourselves is what is currently published by the Government and industry trade bodies.

If, as a result of the current restrictions, you need to change your booked launch date or would like some assistance to get your boat ready, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 01326 372121 or visit the website>

In summary, the current and forecast situations at Mylor are:

March 8th

March 29th

April 12th

At least with the ‘roadmap’ in place we are now starting to see a way out of the COVID situation and I sincerely hope that we can all look forward to a good boating season with a cautious degree of confidence and a healthy dose of optimism.

With best regards

Neil Salter
