THE HARBOUR AND MARINA
Matthew Oakes – Systems & Development Manager
Matthew’s role at Mylor has changed somewhat over the years, starting off on the Marina and progressing to Marina Manager and now Development Manager. A local boy, Matthew grew up in Mylor and followed his passion for all things nautical through his training as a commercial diver and his degree in Underwater Science. Joining Mylor in 2000, he has gained many years of valuable experience in the marine industry. As development manager he can put his organisational skills and technological mind set into good use and support the whole company.
Culum Matheson – General Marina Manager
Culum started working for the marina at the beginning of 2004. He has always been a strong leader and is well respected within the harbour. He is now the Marina General Manager encompassing not only marina operations but also the shore storage of the boats, the accommodation aspect of the business and marketing. He is a keen sailor and has owned a Dolphin 31 for over 6 years, racing in the local COGS series and often surprising the competition!
THE BOATYARD – OUR MARINE TEAM
Nathan Percival – Engineering Manager
Nathan has been working at the harbour for 16 years, starting at the tender age of 18. He learnt his trade alongside his parents in Marine Trak Engineering and has an extensive knowledge of different engines and engineering issues. When Mylor Yacht Harbour bought Marine Trak in 2006 Nathan took on a more senior role in the company and officially became manager of the department in 2010. In his spare time Nathan enjoys football, both playing and watching, but due to injury has taken on the managers role at Falmouth Athletic FC DC.
Spencer (Spike) Riley – Services Manager
Spencer (Spike) began at Mylor way back in 1985 as a rigger, a position he held for about 5 years when the rigging work was given to the chandlery. He then became part of the yard team, moving vessels ashore and lifting boats in and out of the water. 2011 saw Spike’s job title change again to Services Manager with the responsibility of managing the shipwrights, painting GRP and yard departments at Mylor. He enjoys sailing and tries to get out on the water as often as possible. He has been seen racing in the classics but has yet to beat his fellow staff competition!!!
Henry Goldsmith – Project Manager
Henry joined the marina team in early 2010. He grew up all over the world before completing a languages degree and training as a traditional boat builder. He worked for Cornish Crabbers before pursuing a career in team management. He has brought a wealth of diverse experience to the Marina Team and has earned the respect and trust from everyone at Mylor. His hobbies include surfing, sailing and music. His current role as Project Manager in the Marine Team is proving to be a welcome benefit to customers and staff alike.
