We are immensely proud to continue a tradition of classic wooden boat repair and restoration stretching back over 200 years on this site in Cornwall, when it was home to the Navy’s most westerly dockyard.
Today, as then, our Marine Team includes time-served shipwrights, carpenters and painters who are not just highly-skilled, but also deeply passionate about the quality of their work. Whether that be maintaining the vital veneer of varnish and paint protection, or dealing with the results of its break down; restoring planks, renovating rotten timbers or replacing failed fastenings. They relish every challenge, from minor accident repairs to total hull-up restoration.
Those skills are, of course, transferable to any class of small vessel requiring the highest-calibre joinery; from the laying of new decks, to interior fit-outs and alterations, to damage repair – where our shipwrights work closely with our GRP specialists to ensure an integrated programme of works.
We understand that for many, sailing a classic craft is not just about the pleasure of ownership. It also entails legacy, a heartfelt obligation to preserve a unique piece of maritime history and hand it on to a succeeding generation in good order.
We understand, because we share both that sense of responsibility and a love of traditional watercraft. You can be confident that at Mylor Yacht Harbour, you are placing your treasured boat in the safe and experienced hands of specialists driven by a matching obsession with first-rate workmanship.
