Marine Electrician

Mylor Yacht Harbour is a thriving marina, harbour and boatyard in a beautiful location on the South Cornwall coast offering a full range of boating repair and refit services as part of our berthing, mooring and leisure facilities.

An opportunity has arisen within our Marine Team Electrical Department for an experienced Marine Electrician to join the small, friendly team to carry out installations, maintenance, monitoring, fault finding and repairing a wide range of marine electrical systems and electronic equipment on a variety of leisure and small commercial vessels.

The ability to provide excellent customer service and a high standard of work is essential for this role, along with experience of marine electrical and electronic systems and other electrical equipment.

Mylor Yacht Harbour is a main dealer for Raymarine, Garmin, Fischer Panda, Suzuki, Yanmar and Volvo Penta. Any experience with these brands and auto electrics would be an advantage.

Marine Electrician Position – Overview

  • Carry out electronic and electrical installations, fault finding, complete vessel rewiring and repairs to onboard systems and associated equipment. Experience and working knowledge of 6V, 12V, 24 DC and 240 AC systems, including an in-depth knowledge of AGM, Lithium and lead acid battery systems and the associated charging disciplines.
  • Knowledge and experience with NMEA 2000 or other Can Bus equipment
  • Work carried out both on site at Mylor and at other boating locations nearby
  • Maintain familiarity with current equipment, products and features, attending training when required
  • Liaise with customers, administrators and senior electrician as required
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

Marine Electrician Position – Requirements

  • Previous marine electrical and electronics experience in a similar environment is essential (3 – 5 years)
  • Previous work or training within a main dealership organisation such as Raymarine, Garmin, or similar is favourable
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable skills

  • Completion of British Marine Electrical Technician BMET
  • Refrigerator qualifications or experience
